what to do for my 30th bday?

Looking for something DH & I can have fun to celebrate my DH 33rd & my 30th bday.  Sept 20 or 21. I would like to go to a show of somekind, but I know Cirque shows are ended by then :(  No wicked or Mamma Mia or Jersey boys, DH is not into that stuff and neither am I really.  anything else?  maybe a dinner cruise? we're not sport coat cocktail dress ppl (or DH isn't anyways :)

what else can we do that's different, city or suburbs, to celebrate?  is there a yummy romantic restaurant that won't break the bank? we've been to Geja's & Italian Village already. something cozy?  what about a show of some kind?  I've lived here all my life & am stuck for ideas. We haven't gotten out much! lol

Re: what to do for my 30th bday?

  • My bday is the following weekend after yours and I am trying to think of what to do for my 30th also.  Here were my thoughts, Dirty Dancing at the Cadillac Palace.  A Luau party at Tiki Terrace in Des Plaines, a getaway somewhere like Galena, or I think it would be fun to take an Odyssey Cruise, dress up, dancing and dinner there.
  • have you looked into going to see the Second City?  There are lots of good dinner/drinks options in Old Town, and Second City is lots of fun without having to be too dressed up.

  • DH took me to the Lynfred Winery B&B overnight for my 30th a few months back. It was gorgeous and they gave us a private in-room wine tasting. Breakfast was also excellent.

It's out in the suburbs though - Roselle I believe.
