DH's uncles are both doctors. They live in Calgary, and we see them a few times a year. This weekend, one of them came over for dinner and a visit (he's a medical doctor specializing in pathology, but also has a doctorate in psychology - basically, he is insanely smart). I get to talking to him about health care, diagnositcs, etc and start venting about how much pain I've been in for - get this - 10 years and the specialists they refer me to are useless...totally. He starts asking me all sorts of questions aout what's going on physically with me, getting a history, etc...then tells me what I should ask for the next time I see the doc. I say, why can't he be my doctor as he is the first MD in ages that is half-a$$ed interested in getting to the bottom of the situation. He tells me that his ethics won't allow him to treat a family member! Ugh, who cares! lol Seriously, shouldn't a doctor's ethical responsibility to treat a person's illness override any concern that that patient is *by marriage* a member of his family?! It seems backwards to me. He did give me a bunch of reallt helpful info, though, so hopefully it will help me when dealing with the doc in the future. PITA...he's left me hangin'!
Re: I don't care about doctor's ethics! lol
That sucks! But least you can consult him about things?
Care to send my son's info his way? lol
