New to the nest

hey everyone..I'm new to the nest so I thought I'd introduce myself.

My name is Natalie, I got married last year on July 11th. My husband and I are currently in the process of buying our first home. I'm a substitute teacher..graduated with English/Education degree (job markets not too hot for English teachers..) and am enjoying married life :)

  • Welcome! The board has been kind of slow lately...feel free to liven it up!
  • Welcome! The board isn't as lively as it used to be-- I think most of the ladies post more on the national boards these days.

Good luck with work... I have a BA in English (but no desire to teach, lol) and I work for the fed gov at an office in Philly.

  • Welcome!

  • Thanks! Yeah I have a bachelors in English to teach but there are pretty much no opportunities around here. I have been subbing and I pretty much hate it. I am contemplating a career change OR would like to use my English degree to find a job but I'm not sure what. This summer will be one of decision and hopefully change.

I started out workign for the State of NJ doing technical writing (I have a lot of published articles thanks to thatjob) and now I do more customer service type work but I write a lot of letters and articles, so I'm using that degree!

Good luck to you, I know how tough it is to be a teacher in NJ right now.
