Uncharted Territory

So I wrote up a big long post last night that was basically a letter to my husband, reread it about 4 times and deleted it. Long story short: I'm seeing a counselor, he won't go (thinks they are a waste of money and time) and things in our marriage have gone from bad to worse. He's pushed me away emotionally, physically..pretty much every way and though I've tried to get to the bottom of things and work through things, he just doesn't seem to want to acknowledge that we have some serious issues.  In the meantime, I'm seeing the counselor, who is really helping me get my head clear.  I'm pretty sure I know where this is headed and will most likely not be a "Novembie" much longer.  I know I don't post a lot, but I do read everything and think you girls are the best.

Re: Uncharted Territory

  • You will be a Novembie regardless of what happens with you and DH.  We girls have been through a lot and will still support, encourage, and love you through this too.
  • Don't give up!

R and I entered counseling in January . . . and thank goodness we did!  Sometimes we go together, sometimes separately . . . but its not easy.

Its not uncommon for one spouse to not want to begin counseling when the other does.  The important thing is that you go and you work on whats best for you.  Hopefully he will come around.

I can't tell you for sure it will get better, but I can tell you that counseling is the best thing I have ever done for myself, my husband, my marriage or my daughter.

Keep your chin up, you know you have friends here no matter what!

  • I'm sorry to hear you are going through some tough stuff right now. Like the girls said, you will be a Novembie no matter what. I'm glad that you have this board and these wonderful ladies to come and vent to. Even if you don't need advice and you just want to let stuff out, feel free to do so. We are here for you to any extent that you need. Stay strong!
  • I'm sorry you are having problems with your DH.  I'm really hoping he will come around and realize that counseling is a good thing and not a waste.  No matter what the outcome though, and like the other girls said, you are always welcome here.

  • Big hugs to you and I'm glad you're seeking counseling.  I hope that your DH will come around and you guys can go together and get some good help.  Sending you T&P, and you will always be a Novembie!
  • I'm sorry to hear that you're going through a rough patch right now.  I hope that things work out for the best, whichever way things end up.  Maybe your DH will come around to counseling.  Even if he doesn't, I think it's a good outlet for you.  You'll always be a Novembie...we're here for you!

  • You are ours no matter what, honey. Keep your chin up, and know that we are thinking of you.
  • Honey, I am so sorry.  Long before I was a Novembie, I was an Octoberie - which is just to say that we are here (with some experience) to help you through this, just like we were for the wedding planning.  Even moreso now because I feel I can be much more helpful with this topic than I could about jordan almond colors or invitation wording.

Feel free to vent or ask for help or t&p anytime.  Here's some Novembie vibes just because ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  • I've been absent for the past week and half but I wanted to pop in and say I'm glad you're going to counseling, even if he won't go. You're right, it will clear your head and help you feel more confident about whatever choices you make. I'm glad you've recognized its ok to ask for help.

Regardless of what happens, we're here and you'll still be a novembie.

  • What the other girls said.  Big hugs, and if you ever want to vent, feel free.  I have lots of experience with this kind of thing.
  • Ditto what everyone says. Lots of hugs and vibes as you work through this difficult time.
