Crosspost from GR Board--Looking for Traverse City Recs

Hi Ladies!

I am an IN nestie, but you were absolutely wonderful suggesting fantastic places to visit on MI's West Coast last summer, so I'm hoping you can help me again!

DH and I are looking to spend 4-5 days in Traverse City in early October. Does anyone have suggestions of where to stay? Ideally we would love to stay in town with a view of the bay. We are open to B & Bs, small inns and non-chain hotels. We are also open to a country B and B if the drive is not more than 15-20 minutes from town.

Any other restaurant or activity suggestions are welcome! We are thinking of spending one day wine tasting, a day hiking and I would love a spa day!

TIA!

  • Awesome! I will check it out!
  • I grew up in Gaylord and went to NMC in TC for a year....ok it was in the 90's, but we go back every year.

Favorite wineries:  Mawby!!!!! Make sure you try the Sex....yes it is the name of a wine!  and Fizz.  Black star Farms.....b-e-a-utiful  Wine and cheese made there.  Ciccone (yes, madonna's dad's) is pretty, I love the big red barn, but don't care for the wine.

The Grand Traverse Resort is nice.  My cousin used to plan conferrences in a previous job, so she and i went up there for a weekend event that was set up to wine and dine event planners.  They have great rooms, views, food, drinks, and a great spa.

Great shopping down town.  There is a little town about 30 minutes form TC called Bellaire that has the best restaurant....LuLu's, and a Brewery called Shorts.
