Peace out banking career!

So, today I got a call from the manager of Citibank in Berkeley. We had a phone interview when I was still in NYC and she was calling to find out if I was in Cali now and available for an interview. After thinking about it (and sleeping on it- I love napping!), I called her back (voicemail-dammit!) and politely told her that after some soul-searching since our last conversation, I was no longer interested in working for Citi. I further explained that when she told me that they were going to start charging everyone for checking accounts, I realized that the institution's priorities were solely based on sales and not the well-being of their customers. How can they justify additional fees to offset the mess they've made?? Despicable. So, I may be limiting my employment options, but at least 'll sleep at night.

Good for you! Take the moral high ground. Maybe if more people like you worked for BP, we wouldn't have this oil spill on our hands.

Good for u! I dont like citi, they charged me 30% APR on my flippin credit card because I was late once. Then, I finally got it paid off and they sent me a letter in the mail saying they'd give me 0% apr on balance transfers. I won't ever use that credit card again.

Good for you! You can make it until something else works out! Sometimes sacrificing some luxuries for a time (or forever) is worth it so you can do something you feel good about!

I had been in banking for over 10 years before I went into real estate in 2008. I also worked for Citi from 2006 to 2008 and got out right before the market got ugly. So although it is probably the easiest job for me to get hired for, I just can't stomach it any more!
