brunch bridal shower

I'm trying to think of things I can make ahead of time.  Shower is at 11am, so far I'm thinking cold cuts and rolls for sandwhiches, hummus and veggies, fruit, quiche (2 kinds tbd), some danishes or a breakfast casserole of some kind.  Thoughts, critiques and suggestions are all welcome, I want to make sure that the 30 ppl who are coming to this all have enough to eat and aren't walking away hungry unless they want to.

(drinks will be sodas, lemondade, ice water, mimosas and champagne punch)

Re: brunch bridal shower

  • breakfast casseroles are a great idea! You can make these the night before then pop them back into the oven for a few min that morning to heat them back up. It's easy - and will feed lots of people. I just went to a Brunch Bridal shower and had the best breakfast casserole. It had sausage, egg, and cheese and I think even a little spinach. It was great!

  • Some easy ahead of time things to add:
-muffins, coffee cake, biscotti, bagels, etc.

Speaking of coffee cake, I think you need to add hot coffee and hot tea to a brunch menu.  At least coffee.  Which means you need milk/creamers/sugar too.

If you want to change things up a bit: you can do a yogurt and/or oatmeal bar where you provide plain yogurt/oatmeal and guests can add toppings like nuts, dried fruit, honey, brown sugar, granola, berries.

    HTH.

  • Maybe you could have croissants and bagels to use with the cold cuts to make sandwiches instead of the rolls.  That way they could double as starch sides for people that just want to eat them with butter or cream cheese.

I like the quiche idea.  I made mini quiches (used regular sized muffin tins) for a baby shower brunch and they were a huge hit.  I would do one with meat and one veggie.  I think if you make 2 quiches, you don't need the breakfast casserole.  However, I think I would make more than 2 quiches for a group that size.. 3 would probably work.

I like the yogurt option pp mentioned as well.  If you already have fruit out, you could just put some vanilla yogurt out and some granola.  Just put it near the fruit so people get the idea.

  • I just hosted a baby shower this past weekend for the same amount of people, this is what we had.

    Veggies and dip

    cold cuts,pate and rolls

mini quiches and pigs in a blanket (make ahead and frozen)

lentil salad, couscous salad and pasta salad

    cheese plate

baby carriage watermelon filled with fruit salad.  You can make a watermelon basket or another shape, it was a real hit!

cup cakes for dessert, chocolate and oreo.

-Some kind of fruit is the only thing I would add to your menu, besides that it sounds great! I would roll all the meats the night before so you dont have to get up too early :)

    Good luck!

  • I agree with the fruit and yogurt idea too.

Frittatas is a good egg and veggie dish, easy too.  I make them in muffin times for individual ones.

  • I did a brial shower tea party not to long ago and some of my menu ideas would work well for you. Fruit Skewers and Capric Salad Skewers might go well. Check out my Good Day blog: www.choosecreative.com/events
  • thanks for the suggestions ladies!
  • i love food bars, like the yogurt / oatmeal bar suggested. but i wouldnt serve oatmeal. yogurt parfat with chopped fruit, granola, nuts. or a breakfast burrito bar.  i agree that you dont need both the casserole and the quiches.

    ditto coffee/tea suggestion above.
