I'm starting a new thread to respond to your comment.

I realized I need my independence in college, too.  Although my roommates freshman and sophomore year were friends; they just drove me nuts when it came to living together.

That's why I was surprised I have no problems living with DH.  Are you the same way in that respect?  I can't even live with my own parents- they drive me up the wall!!!  But living with DH is so natural and I don't ever feel like I need more privacy or anything like that! 

(And, it makes me feel better telling him I couldn't live with SIL, knowing that I'd be hard pressed to live with my own family, so it's nothing against his.  Just me!)

I think the reason DH and I do so well living together is that he knows me so well and I feel comfortable telling him when I need space. He also knows if I come home in a bad mood and just grunt a hello at him and go hang out upstairs, he doesn't take it personally. When I had roommates I would explain that I tend to be moody and need a certain amount of personal space and no matter how many times I explained that to them, they took it personally. It really affected our friendship for a while because they thought I just didn't like them. I think when you live with friends and with family, no matter how well they know you, you (at least I) still feel the need to put on a happy face all the time and chit chat even when you don't feel like it. Sometimes I just want to turn the tv on and not talk to anyone, lol!. My IL's used to come and spend long weekends with us once a month before they moved here from L.A. and it drove me crazy! My SIL lived with us for about two months a few years ago and I have to say that I didn't mind living with her because she is moody too and would come home, grunt a hello and go hang out in her room. I didn't take it personally and actually liked that she kept to herself and stayed out of the way. I think she's one of the few people I would be okay living with (short term, of course!).

Hmm you're probably right.  And you do sound a lot like me, in that respect.  I do the grunting thing, too!!!!  And DH seems to know when to leave me alone vs. giving me a hug.  I don't know how HE figured it out because I can't!!

Have you noticed being pregnant making you crankier?  That's something I worry about, someday.  I actually had a friend tell me she doesn't want to be around me once I do get pregnant because I get cranky enough as it is.  (Nice friend...  Started that out with, "Don't get offended, Jen, but...")

It's funny, I think the hormones have mellowed me out. Maybe it's like giving a kid with ADHD Ritalin. I haven't had as many mood swings as I normally do and would have expected. The thing I notice is that I'm quick to cry (but still not as much as I imagined I would be). Like on Sunday I started worrying about my interview and really wanting the job and started crying. The other thing is that I am able to hold it together in terms of my moods, but notice that I shout at DH and have thrown things when I get frustrated when old me would have just stewed or pouted. He was insisting on watching a post game Lakers show last week and I threw a remote...hard...at his back. I don't know what came over me! He laughed about it though, even though I know it had to have hurt! I still can't believe I did that. I had to laugh this week when my pregnancy ticker says "Mommys uterus is the size of a grapefruit which she would like to throw at Daddy right about now." Lol.
