Is this your cat?

My husband found a little black cat last night in the rain.  Aaaaand because my husband is a closet cat lover and because this cat vaguely resembles some cat he had growing up... the cat is now under my bed.  I want to say that I think rescuing animals is very honorable - our dog came from Animal Care and Control.  But that's just it - we have a dog.

Also.  I am allegeric to cats.

So of course the cat spent the majority of the night touring our house, trying to sleep with us and scaring the bejeezus out of our 77 lb, 4yr old lab mix.  Don't get me wrong, the cat is adorable, very friendly, affectionate to a fault... but cats have natural suspicions when it comes to dogs, and although we were very careful about introducing them (cookies and praise all around), the dog spent most of the night panting next to me and crying.  (No injuries yet)

The cat and my husband ended up sleeping in the guest room.

Today the plan was to take Kitty's picture and make flyers, but now he/she/it has discovered the mythical Land Under the Bed and won't come out.  Tomorrow DH is taking her/it/him to the vet to see if there is a chip... assuming he/she/it comes out from under the bed.

So.  Is anybody missing a young black cat with a gold and rhinestone collar, answers to Kitty, very people friendly (followed me around for four hours yesterday and again for a few minutes this morning), understands "No!", big fan of tuna, litter box trained (thank the baby jesus for small favors)?  Found in Wicker Park, corner of Damen and Evergreen.

Please take your cat back.

Re: Is this your cat?

  • I saw someone putting up fliers for a missing black cat near that area! Am trying to remember exactly where... When it hits me, i'll post agiain.
  • i can't remember specifically, but places i've been over the last few days that are likely where i saw the man putting up fliers are jane's restaurant on cortland, ethan james salon on grand, and ogden high school.  wish i had paid more attention now...
  • Thanks!  I'll look over there.  I walked a few blocks in either direction, but I mostly looked around the park today.
