hi ladies- dh and i want to do a nice short getaway in the middle of the summer. any info you can give me on the fingerlakes? which lake to stay on? where to look for places to rent? places to see while we are there? anything you can tell me will help greatly! we plan to take our pup. thanks!
Re: finger lakes information? anyone visit there?
We usually stay around Lake Cayuga and hike gorges around the lake and go to wineries. Buttermilk Falls upper trails (above the falls) are beautiful and we always do the trail back Taughannock Falls. I think you can rent cabins from the state park system. We have been staying at the Taughannock Farms Inn at one of the rooms in the main inn (cheapest rooms are the forest rooms, we stay in these and they are nice). On special occasions we stay at Halsey House but lately we haven't been staying there because it is $$$.
We have driven over to Seneca Lake (next one over) to go to wineries and walk up Waktins Glen.
If you like Thai food, we LOVE Thai Cuisine on Rt 13 in Ithaca (across from the Wegmans).
