Looks like we're getting a dog or should I say DH talked me into a dog! It's a boy, what names come to mind? I can only think of Max but I'm looking for something more fun... HELP
Re: Boy dog names
I always name my pets after movie characters.
In the past I've had...
DOGS
Sandy (from Annie - I was 8 and obsessed lol)
Korben (The Fifth Element)
Indiana (Indiana Jones...)
CATS
Athos (The Three Musketeers - OK, I actually named him after the book character, not a movie, but whatever)
Joey (from Friends)
Neo (The Matrix)
Jake & Elwood (The Blues Brothers)
Are there any movies you particularly like? And what kind of dog is it - that will influence my suggestions too (although I think Snookums might be nice for a Rottweiler lol).
The boy dogs I know (or have known) are/were name(ed):
Bandit, Buddy, Cody, Balta, Basil, Charlie, Cooper, Benny, Peanut (well, that's gender neutral), Bob, Pepper (again, GN), Spruce, Teddy, Toby, Kuro and Gonta.
What kind of dog are you getting?
Ditto this. I like people names for pets, though maybe people names I wouldn't necessarily name a child. Good examples might be Freddy, Frank, Archie, etc. Though, who am I kidding? I probably would name a kid that!
Rex, Baxter, Samson, Buddy, Butch, Shadow, Hershey, Hercules.
My boy cat is Satchmo (after Louis Armstrong), and my friend has a boy boxer she named Bacchus.
OMG, I LOVE that! And, yes, I AM a nerd.
If we got a boy dog, MH wants to name him Picard - that's another nerd reference. (We already have Leeloo, our girl dog).
We're getting a yellow lab and he's 8 weeks old. Oh how I am NOT excited about potty training! But DH has convinced me, the rewards are as great as having a kid... He nearly twisted my arm off in order to talk me into it... But now I'm excited, it's kind of like having a new baby
I guess if I can't have a baby now (although we're back on board for TTC!) then I'll take a puppy in the mean time!
I like Toby, Korben and Max so far... I'm googling and searching like crazy. I want something different and unique. I'd LOVE it to have a reference to California or San Diego (though I HATE the name Diego), since that's where DH and I first met...
Keep the suggestions coming, I appreciate them!
How about Dioji...
GET IT?! D...O...G...
I have a yellow lab and for some reason lots of our friends have yellow labs. These are their names:
- Jackson (mine)
- Jack
- Zoe
- Bauer
- Lola
- Lulu
- Merrell
- Tonka
- Reimis

We have an Italina theme going on with our pets so our boy pug's name is Luigi Narciso.
I had a cat named Bud. I like the name Booster for a boy dog. My mom's boy dog is named Sport. My brother has two male dogs...Kenai and Koda.
I am a fan of giving pets unique names...things you wouldn't necessarily hear people named. So places or something with a sense of humor is fun. We always have a few names in mind but wait until we get the pet to discover his/her personality before finally settling upon one.

Oooooh a yellow lab - fun AND challenging lol! My Indy is half lab, and as long as you're aware that they tend to keep their puppy traits well into adulthood (moreso than other breeds for some reason - they seem to have a prolonged adolescence, which can make people crazy because they'll still be chewing stuff up etc when you think they should have outgrow that), you'll do just fine.
We need photos of puppy cuteness!
Bahahaha! In all the times we've discussed nerdery, you've never mentioned wanting to use Picard as a dog name...and I think I might have to steal it for our next dog...although I could go with Rikker...
Ok, if we get a Picard and you get a Rikker - we have to have a doggie get together....on some tropical island in the pacific halfway between us.
LOL how much fun would that be?! Or I could name our dog Kirk, and then we could have a meeting of the generations...
