So now that summer is upon us
I would like to hear how everyone stays safe from the UV rays. I am extremely paranoid about this for many reasons! In highschool, I was so oblivious and tanned in a bed all the time....I have not done it since!!! I realized the risks are not worth it : ) Besides the obvious, sunscreen, does any one have any other tips on staying healthy in the sun? I have read articles that there are ingredients in sunscreen that can cause cancer...I don't really know how true this is..! Seems like everything these days "causes cancer!"

Can't wait to meet my baby boy!
Honestly, I stay out of the sun at all costs. I don't enjoy arizona summer pools because the temps are so warm that it's not refreshing. So I rarely am outside in the summer here...
I'm very fair skinned though and have had a few too many harsh sunburns since moving here.
When I am outside, I try to cover up as much as possible- wear hats whenever possible. I wear sunscreen if I have to, but usually I'm fairly covered.
Me too!!! I was so bad! In my peak tanning days I would go darn near every day! OMG...that is scary! I did look amazing though.....
I just embrace my pastiness now!
Yeah, I looked kind of weird and very unnatural. I was going daily too. It was very relaxing. Really, I only stopped b/c it was such a frivolous expense.
The only problem I ever had with the fake baking was the itchy heels. My skin got really dry
Tangent: Ohhh and one time I got this ridic burn btw my boobs and it turned into a 7 inch blister. That still didn't stop me from going though, I just laid a towel over my chest til it healed. (I know, I know...I'm a weirdo.

I LOVE the summer time. In New England, I could never ever tan. I would only burn as the sun wasnt as great there and my skin could never get used to it. Here on the other hand, im already tanning. Go me! I am as white as white gets so this is HUGE for me, haha!
But really, if i am out there for more then 10 minutes, we later up with sun block. I'll wear hats. I keep the boys more covered as well.. but that's all I have. If we go to a lake or at an outside event, I bring an umbrella type thing...

Um....yes, there are such bad things in everything you put on your body. There are natural ones. I have one at home but I can't think of the name of it! I'd def. try that!
I don't wear it unless I'm out there for HOURS!! I like getting tan...Vitamin D is good for you too. I know I can get skin cancer but I think I'm pretty good with not getting burned and being pretty safe!!
oopps, sorry, lol. I have to write these in emails, so no one knows what I am doing at work, lol

I've had skin cancer. The most mild form of it, but it was still terrifying, not to mention gross. I'll be having dermatologist checkups at least every 6 months for the rest of my life, because now I am an an extremely heightened risk of developing melanoma.
When I'm outside I cover up and wear a big, floppy hat, and I do not go outdoors between 10am-3pm if I can help it at all. And I do believe that a little bit of sun exposure is good for you, but I keep it below 5 minutes a day or so.
Sunscreens really don't work all that well. I could go on and on about this, but I'll just summarize and say that I don't trust them. You can read up about this here if you're interested.
Hey Hey hey hey hey!!!! LoL..... who is this Jessica you speak of :-P
I'm a total pale face! I wear sunscreen 365 and couldn't tan to save my life. I have this awesome hat I wear if I'm going to be outside for a bit.
I had never heard of sunscreen not working? I will have to click it!
