Local CSAs - Does anyone do this?
We're looking at joining a CSA (community supported agriculture) for next year, and I'm wondering if any other Nesties in the area do this. We'd probably go with a 1/2 share from Fox Run Farms as we could pick up in Independence on Saturdays (which is the closest one we've found to our house in Crittenden). If you do this, what has your experience been? What is your typical price for the season (please include whether it's half share or whole share)? If you are in NKY, which CSA are you a member of?
TIA!
Re: Local CSAs - Does anyone do this?
We joined Bergefurd's 1/2 share (1/2 bushel) for 1/2 season (10 weeks) this year. For us it was $150 but if you do a 1/2 share for the full season it's $250. There are also full shares for 1/2 season and full shares, full season. Memberships also include a Fall Festival. While the season has already started last weekend, we chose to begin our 10 weeks at the end of July so I can't comment yet. I have been receiving their email newsletters though and looks like so far so good.
We chose them based on recommendations and the fact that they have both veggies and fruit, which most CSAs didn't. We also liked that they had multiple pick-up locations.
