Deadheading roses

What do you do? If you cut them this short, do you put the blooms in a shallow dish to display?

  • Thanks for the article, the advice makes perfect sense.  When my mom and g-mom were here a few weeks ago, I asked for their advice on deadheading, and the had differing opinions. My mom cuts just above a 5-leaf, and g-mom cuts just above a 3-leaf, which tends to be a little higher, therefore leaving more foliage, just like the article recommends.  Her blooms are enormous, so I went with her advice over my mom's.  I have a few bushes that need to be deadheaded right now, I'll let you know how it goes!
