¡Viva México!

That's all.

Re: ¡Viva México!

  • Dh and I are talking about going for my birthday in December....wanna go???
  • I'm sure your husband enjoys you inviting internet strangers to your romantic getaways!  Where are you going?

    Matt loves Munkii!!!
  • Oh ya, he loves it... Stick out tongue  We haven't decided yet.  Any ideas?
  • I've never been to the resort towns, so no suggestions there.  My family lives in Tampico; so, that's where I spend the majority of my time.  Also, I recommend Xilitla.  There's a rainforest and healing spring, and not far from there is a little village of a priest turned curandero.  One of the more famous things in Xilitla is the "castle" of Sir Edward James.

  • We've never been so it should be fun.  I don't know who Sir Edward James is, but the rainforest sounds cool!  My mom works for the government and started freaking out when I told her we were going...there is a list they sent out at her work of places in Mexico Americans should not go because it isn't safe.  And I watched a special about a week ago about gangs in Laredo Mexico/Laredo Texas and how the police are working with the gangs to kidnap/kill people (I won't go into any details).  So my mom is SUPER excited now.... Stick out tongue
  • Lucky for her, the towns with the most violence are not really hot tourist spots.  People usually only go to those places to visit family or go there for business since there's a lot of industry in border towns.  If you stick to a resort town, you'll be safe.

Cesar took the day off from work, jumped out of bed like a little kid going to Disneyland, and threw on his Mexico soccer jersey this morning.  My relationship with him for the next 30 days will be non-existent.  He will be glued to World Cup Soccer!  I am sure he is already indulging in a Michelada (clamato and beer).

  • I need to pull it up online but am trying to be all secret in my office about it.  So, he uses clamato?  Icky!!!  Why doesn't he use sangrita?

  • I am following the game on ESPN.com- still 0-0.

I am not sure why he uses Clamato... actually it is quite common here to use Clamato.  They usually only serve Sangrita with a shot of tequila like this:

    Maybe it's a regional thing?

  • It's definitely a regional thing.  My family does do sangrita shots with tequila but Micheladas are served with sangrita as well.

OK, it's streaming live on espn3.com.  I don't like how the FIFA website is doing play-by-play in text with chat.

  • If DH and I are cheering for Brazil, can we all still be friends?
  • Yes, although I'll never forgive Brazil for beating Italia in 94 and making the headcoach cry.

Yes... I am really rooting for the US (and Ireland if they had made it to the World Cup).  My husband roots for Mexico and US.

Regarding Brazil... I am sad Ronaldinho did not make the team.

Juan obsesses over Kaka (he is also a Real Madrid fan because of him), hence cheering for Brazil. Well, and the countries he has any connection to (Colombia and El Salvador) aren't even playing. He'd never in a million years cheer for US. Actually, this morning I thought he was still asleep when the lady on the news said "Go USA!" He rolls over and says "F the US!" Um...good morning to you, too!

He says that Ronaldinho should have gotten his butt in better shape! But he was disappointed he didn't make it, too.

In all honesty, hockey is my sport, like any good French Canadian - American girl! But I'm also cheering for France for the World Cup :).

Because of this, we CANNOT be friends! Stick out tongue Juan and I are on the same page with regard to the US team.  I just can't find it in my heart to cheer for them.  Go England!
