I think I have to wean Mad. She bit me severly on the right nipple, that I can't feed her and I can't pump. When I pump I start bleeding, and the milk ends uo looking like strawberry milk. I guess I have to go get formula before I deny Mad her lovies.
Any advice for this stressed momma?
Re: Say buh-bye bewbie!
Ouch! I hope you heal quickly!
Is she exclusively on breast milk? Is she taking it from the bottle too?
If she's already drinking from the bottle, then I think it may be easier than also weaning her off of you. Has she had any formula at all?
(TMI Warning) If you're like me, the supply will slowly stop as you stop nursing. It was as if my bewbies made milk, so long as they had Nat there to take it directly. Otherwise, the pumping bit for me didn't last too long. BTW - this also made for a less uncomfortable transition and drying up. Jos was hard for me, but that's another Oprah!
Good luck! Let me know if you have any questions. XOXOXO
awww...well props to you for nursing so long!! That's awesome:) I was fortunate not to have to deal with biting since Ella was weaned at 9 months and didn't get any teefers until 11 months:)
I hope you heal quickly:)
OUCH!!! Hope he heal quickly!! Good luck with weaning her off the bewbies.
My guy liked to bite too! ?The only way I got him to stop was to immediately stop nursing, no giving him the other side. ?So he learned pretty quickly. ?
I nursed exclusively through 9 months, then since he hated formula he got Whole milk in a cup throughout the day. ?I nursed him when he woke in the morning and before bed. ?Then weaned him down to 1 feeding before bed, and then after his 1st birthday that was it.
The pump never worked for me and he wouldn't take the bottle anyway, ?he would rather skip a feeding and go to sleep than take a bottle. ?What a spoiled boy!?
Good luck I hope you heal fast!?
Ouch...I've been there sistah...it hurts so bad.
Best of luck in weaning her and congrats for making it so long, that is awesome!
Poor bewbie! I hope she heals quickly.
I did the exact same thing Princess Shelly did: Tell Jake, "No bite!" and stop the nursing session. He learned pretty quickly.
Good for you for keeping up with the breastfeeding for as long as you did. Good luck with weaning!
Just a couple of thoughts to try and help the engorgement feeling...
Nurse her before she goes to bed. Or pump before you go to bed. If you do pump, pump for shorter and shorter periods, reducing every second or third time you pump. You can gauge yourself and your supply. Pumping for shorter times will help "relieve" you, but not be long enough to stimulate more milk. Hope that makes sense.
Also if you're keeping yourself hydrated by drinking water for BM purposes, maybe you can cut back on your intake after 6 pm, or whatever time works for you.
Are you ready to wean her off BM and nursing all together? It's so awesome that you've stuck to it! You ROCK!
