bachelor/bachelorette party

Hey all!  Need your ideas....

My neighborhood does a "house crawl" every summer and this year they mixed it up a bit.  They assigned each house participating a type of holiday/celebration theme.  So some examples were Xmas, Luau, St. Patricks day, Cinco de Mayo.   Well, my hubby and I got "throw a bachelor/bachelorette party".  Each home must serve a cocktail and a food of some sort and decorate for their theme.

Since we're all married already I need to think of creative ways to make this combined bach/bachelorette party fun and memorable while watching my $$ also- any ideas?

Re: bachelor/bachelorette party

  • Party City has some great Bach. party stuff at a fairly reasonable price. Off the top of my head, I see the colors as black and white with blue (bright blue) accents for the guys and hot pink accents for the girls. For cocktails, maybe do two different martinis -- a regular and a cosmopolitan? For food, see if there's something you can do to make it suggestive (instead of "pigs in a blanket" you can call them "wrapped weiners" -- sounds more sexual).

  • I'm super lame on these ideas, but can I live in your neighborhood??? I have terrible neighbors, yours sound like a blast!?

  • With it being wedding season I think even places like target and the dollar store have some bachelorette party decor items.  You could get things like those little buttons that say different things and have everyone take them.  Or have pieces for people to wear while they are at your house (tiara's, feather boas, etc.)

You can find a game at party stores that is pin the (you-know-what) on the man.  Or also decks of cards with silly things to do.  (You could make these to be more economical.)  Sensor them for ones that are appropriate for married couples.  Some are still like get on a chair and sing a song, which is totally doable.

Sorry I'm not more help with the bachelor side... maybe a room with poker and cigars?

  • How fun!  I hear of neighborhood GTG's and parties, but this is a great idea!

I agree with pp's in going to Party City or somewhere to get some of the supplies....they always have traditional bachelor/ette supplies there and are pretty inexpensive!  I would treat each guy/girl as the bachelor/ette and have sashes/tiaras/buttons/etc. for all of the girls to wear and something for the guys too (not really sure what guys normally do).  I try to stick with sexual themed ideas as well with the drinks and food.  You could do Sex on the Beach drinks or Hop, Skip & Go Naked Punch.

For the food....do you have to supply apps or a part of a meal (like a progressive dinner)?  It's hard to say right now without knowing what you guys normally do.

How much time do you spend at each house?  Normally a "crawl" is just having a drink or two at a place and then moving on but it sounds like you spend more time at each place.  Maybe if you could provide us with a little more information as far as what you typically do with these "crawls" that would help us generate more ideas for you!

  • can you split your room in 2? half can be decorated for girls and half for boys, like even half the table, cut banners in half to hang above.

as long as everyone is adult i like the pin the xxx on the man idea, put up a homemade photobooth area for pics to make it memorable.

for food, do some "girly" stuff and some "manly" stuff.

make white chocolate lace with dark chocolate covered fruit for the girls and hot buffalo wings for the guys. or something like that.

  • Thanks for the ideas ladies!  Just to clarify a bit more for you, each house serves appetizer/snack type food and a cocktail.  The actual events take place in each persons garage.  You can make it as little or as much as you'd like.  I've purchased boas and little flashing glow rings for the ladies and now I'm trying to find some fun favor for the guys - any suggestions?  I like the idea of weenies in a blanket as a snack - any other ideas?? particular a bit humerous from a guys perspective?  The hard part is we're supposed to throw a bachelor/bachelorette combo and I'm trying to make it fun for all of us.  Guys/bachelor party theme is just hard to think of something creative!
