Help please, just got home from trip, plants dead

DH and I just got home from a 2 week trip. We had asked our neighbor to water our plants while we were gone, but it appears he didn't.

I had 2 gardenias and 1 camellia plant. The gardenia had white buds on it when we left and now they are black and the bottom of the plant's leaves on both are brown and crisp. The camellia had thick waxy dark green leaves on it when we left and now a lot of the leaves have fallen off and whats left are brown or really light green.

Is there any hope for my plants? Anything I can do to help fix them? I've watered them twice now, (last night and this morning) for 30 minutes each. Would it be better to just pull them up and replant? Thanks!

  • I would give them a little time to see if they bounce back. I wouldn't dig them out immediately.

    Don't drink the water.

  • what a sh!tty neighbor!  I'd give them a few more days of watering and see if they bounce back, if not just replant, and ask someone else to water for you next time!
