Lost all of my apps and my iTunes account when...

I got my phone replaced at Apple yesterday.

iTunes acted like I never had the account with them when I plugged my phone into my computer. It made me make another log in, etc. I used the same login that I had previously and it let me use it.

Anyone have a suggestion of what they think happened?

ETA: I've google'd but a lot of stuff that comes up is very high-tech and I don't know how to read it nor do I really understand it.

I basically would like to see if there is any way that I can find the applications that I have purchased in the past and get them back at no charge.

Re: Lost all of my apps and my iTunes account when...

  • Apple stores all of the purchases, etc. on a server and the iTunes store has been able to restore or recredit me for things like a not working download, so I'd start with the iTunes store customer service.

  • Oh okay, I'll look up their number and call them then. Thanks!

  • Okay, I got back my apps.

I went to my iTunes account (figured out what happened and my "old" one still exists) and looked at my purchase history.

Clicked "buy" but then it would allow me to redownload them.

  • Did you get the sim card out of your old phone before you traded it in?  If you sync your phone, then remove your sim card before exchanging phones you shouldn't notice a difference with the new phone.
  • Did you ask them about your songs? My old Dell laptop died and I couldn't salvage my music before that, so I called Apple Customer Service and they transfered my iTunes purchases to my new MacBook.

I also had some non-purchased music on my iPod (stuff I'd ripped from old CDs I used to have), and I found a program online that did a reverse transfer and dumped all of my iPod music onto my MacBook.

  • I am having a similar problem! I need to transfer all of my songs from an ipod to my macbook- my PC crashed.

mbcdefg- you mentioned a program to do this. I saw a couple online, but they all get very "techy" and I can't follow them. Any suggestions?
