How is your FIL doing, darling? Is he back home yet? I hope he's feeling better, and changing his habits!

He's still in the ICU at the heart hospital, but they think he'll move to a regular room in 3-4 days. They've gotten his blood pressure down to 120/70 which is amazing for an overweight 72 year old man (heck, it's good for pretty much anyone). He's still on pretty powerful pain-killers so he's kind of loopy, but the outlook seems to be good. He doesn't have to have any surgery, and from what I understand if his blood pressure stays low the tear in his aorta will heal itself.
Last night we heard that he'll probably be in the hospital for at least 1-2 more weeks (something about he might need physical therapy after lying on a bed in the ICU for so long). After that he'll routinely see the head cardiologist at the hospital. I'm really hoping that MIL, BIL, and SIL (who all live in Houston) will keep on him about eating better and walking every day. He's so stubborn that I can forsee many screaming matches, but someone's got to hold him accountable!

I, too, hope your MIL, BIL, SIL keep on him with everything-despite the screaming matches... My mom wasn't as strict with my SF and it didn't help him.
