DH caught me cheating...

I bought some organic peaches from the grocery store yesterday (produced in the US) and they aren't in season here yet.  We really only have strawberries and cherries right now.  He called me out!  He asked me what I was doing buying peaches now.  He doesn't do any shopping and I have taught him everything he knows about food.  He's getting it and I felt kinda proud...and guilty!  Just needed to AW a bit!  All this time and energy learning about our food is paying off.

Re: DH caught me cheating...

  • Hey, that's still good! Food transportation energy is actually pretty minimal -- more energy goes into the chemicals put on conventional produce. I do like buying local to support my local economy, and just to think more about where food comes from and being seasonal, but IMO organic is more important!

  • LOL that's cute.  DH did the same thing to me a few weeks ago when there was a gap between the end of local apples and the beginning of local strawberries.  I bought organic apples from Washington from the store, and he gave me a cute faux-speech about them.  I was like, dude you had McDonalds for breakfast, so STFU about my organic apple Stick out tongue
