Anyone else attempting to lose weight?

For the past two weeks, I've been on a gym kick.  It's actually becoming fun - to see how hard I can push myself each time!

I've also been doing really well with eating, salads for lunch, and watching my portions for dinner and such.

I've looked at recent pictures of myself, and all I can think is eww...who is that chick with the chubby face!!!

How are you doing?

Re: Anyone else attempting to lose weight?

  • Hi!

Yes, I've gained about 10 pounds since the wedding that I'd LOVE to lose. I have been trying to eat better, but haven't gotten back on the gym bandwagon yet. For me, I have to go directly from work, otherwise I won't go. Today I packed my gym clothes so I am going to go! DH is so good about going, which just makes me feel more guilty. He has LOST 20 pounds since the wedding.

I am not really doing any concrete plan or anything, I kinda count calories & such on sparkpeople.com.

  • I have been trying but not has hard as I should. Right now, I go to the gym 3 days a week and count calories on the weekdays. My problem is that I eat whatever I want on the weekends, which erases what I did all week. At least I'm not going up in weight, but I would like to see it come down.
  • I wish, I could spot reduce!  I need to lose my tummy flab - I've been doing at leat 45 minutes of cardio (5 x a week), and very little weight training - I hate it.   Just watching what I eat, and no beer. Sad

  • I went all out last summer (on and after the honeymoon) and packed on close to 15 lbs.

I haven't been able to get on a good exercise kick for longer than a week since the wedding. But I have gradually toned down my bad eating habits over the past 6 months so I am almost back to my wedding weight (though I am much less firm than I was a year ago, since I haven't been running like i did before the wedding).

  • I've lost 7 of the 15 pounds I've gained since the wedding in the last 6 weeks or so by cutting out all foods with high fructose corn syrup, cutting back on baked goods, lunches out and cooking healthier food at home.  Now I expect that number to start going the other way again but at least I feel much better about where I am now.  I cut out my daily diet cokes as of Saturday which I've found in the past actually really helps with water retention too.
  • My weight fluctuates but up until this past year, I was happy with the entire range. Now it goes up into a range that makes my clothes too tight and uncomfortable. Doing cardio regularly generally helps, but I've been slacking since my tri last month. I found cutting out frozen meals for lunch, though, made a huge difference. That combined with regular cardio keeps me where I want to be.  I did a 5K Saturday that I was totally unprepared for and now my knee is killing me, so I'll probably work on my swimming most nights this week. I want to do another tri in August!
We have so much time, and so little to do! Strike that, reverse it.

  • I'm still waiting for the dr to clear me for exercise (hopefully tomorrow) but I am already down 10lbs from my pre-pg weight. I just need to get myshape back and tone up.

  • I am! I drastically reduced my sugar, wheat, dairy and chocolate intake and that has helped somewhat. I've also started working out 5 times/week. As of yesterday, I am recording everything so I can track my calories. I think I do too much mindless snacking.
  • Thank you for posting this. It made me motivated to go to the gym last night! I was up over 10 lbs from my wedding weight and it was making me sick. I'm down 5 lbs as of this morning and feeling so much better. If I can keep on this, I'll be happy with where I am!
  • I'm trying. Well, not like hardcore trying, but I am trying to stick to more planned out meals - esp. breakfast and lunch.  When I don't have a plan or routine, I throw caution to the wind and eat super bad foods.
