new to gardening help please!!!

my husband and I just moved into our first home together and i really want to plant some pretty easy to take care of flowers but our yard doesnt get much light anyone knows what kind of flower i could plant? and what kind of soil I will need? Thanks in advance ladies!!

  • Relax. Punctuation is your friend.

    Drop by your local nursery/garden center (not Lowes/HD, but a real live garden center) and talk to them about what kinds of plants work in your area. There will be someone there who is knowledgeable about that kind of stuff and can help you out.

    Annuals would be a good first start, but your shade options may be limited. Google shade plants and you should get a decent idea of what might be possible.

  • I second the rec for a local nursery, most are family owned, although I like Earl May too.  Flowers for shade: impatiens, hydrangea bushes, phlox.  Some hostas flower as well.
