Curses!

So I'm relatively new to the low-impact/organic living scene but I am brokenhearted to learn that my favorite Wegmans brand tortillas (spinach) contain articial coloring. I pulled one out of the bag and noticed a BLUE streak across the top that hadn't mixed in the tortilla properly!! Why they felt the need to make a naturally green product into a bright atrocious green color is beyond me, but I don't buy them anymore.

Does anyone have any recs for tortillas that are organic and all natural? I just make sandwich wraps with them...

Re: Curses!

  • That sucks!  I have not been able to find a tortilla brand that isn't full of junk.  Our grocery store up the street has 6 brands of tortillas, and every.one has several preservatives, artificial flavors, and additives.  Booo!

Have you tried your Farmer's Market for bakery products?  We put our sandwichs on their cibatta bread...yummmm

  • We get our fresh from the bakery.  You can also usually get them fresh from a mexican resturant.  Might not be an organic solution but the usually have minimal preservatives.

    nothing
  • I've been meaning to check the farmer's market for like a month now, hopefully this weekend I can make it there! And I hadn't thought to try a mexican restaurant that makes them directly. Great idea!
  • Can't believe they'd let that slip by like that and give away their secret! It makes no sense to me why they feel the need to do that. They must feel like we won't believe they're spinach tortilla wraps unless they're REALLY green. Unfortunately I don't have one to recommend you, I'm lucky to be able to buy locally made tortillas in my grocery store.
