  • We bought a van from the state surplus site to use to haul crap home from Lowes while we did renovations, and it turned out to be a great car.  They're cheap, but sold as is and you don't get to drive them (we could start it and put it in gear before bidding on it).   They do disclose known problems and have no incentive to lie, but it can still be a crap shoot.
  • Found 2 good cars on Craigslist. Mind you it took knowing problems that you were looking for, months looking and seeing many, many cars!
