How Did You Meet DH/BF/Fiance

To liven up the board, how did you meet?

Re: How Did You Meet DH/BF/Fiance

  • The short version is that we met through mutual friends and his youngest brother was my classmate.
  • We are "highschool sweethearts" - he was the teacher's assistant in my gym class.  I was a Sophomore, he was a Junior.  We've been together going on 12 years, married for almost 5 :)

  • Mutual friends.  One of my best girlfriends from college graduated from his HS and I went Belligerent Camping every summer with this group.  We both had other people we were seeing for a few of those summers, then one summer came where we were both single.  So we got drunk and made out in the pop up camper one night and lived happily ever after.  Romantic, I know.
  • We met at Meijer.  He worked in service with friends and I worked in the deli.  We were both invited to a co-workers party.  Flirted at the party, and things went from there.
  • I went to the bar for St. Patricks in 2006 - me and a friend thought we would have a quick drink and leave. Well I ran into more people I knew and drank quite a bit. Later on, I went up to the bar and a friend of mine was sitting next to Mike and reached over to give me a drink and I almost dropped it on his head. Then later I asked him to dance and we have been together ever since. LOL. He always says I interuppted his corn beef and cabbage meal. Met in 2006 and married 2 1/2 years later lol.

  • Match.com.
  • Our local Public Access station GRTV.
  • We had strength class together when I was a sophomore and he was a senior in high school. We were both dating other people but apparently he had the hotts for me. ;)

5 years later we saw eachother at a party and it was all over from there. :)

    Match.com.

Would you recommend that site?  I have a few friends who always complain that it is so hard to meet guys if you are done college and don't like the bar scene.... I'm trying to convince them to try eharmony or something, but no dice so far.

I met my DH in college- he was walking to his dorm with a friend of mine and she stopped me to ask, "Doesn't this guy look JUST like Prince William?"  I said no b/c he doesn't at all, but I remembered him from them on.  He asked me out a couple weeks later and we've been together ever since!  Together 6 years this fall and married almost 2 1/2.

  • I would recommend Match.com if you are able to evaluate people objectively. I had just gotten over a divorce and because of therapy had a really good idea of what I wanted in a future spouse, and looked at it kind of like a job interview. I didn't take it personally if a guy I found attractive wasn't that into me. I decided I wasn't going to settle. I had a list of requirements. So I did a lot of sorting through duds, but I did find DH :-)

If, however, your friend is the kind of person who isn't very good at letting things roll or settles for anyone who looks her way, I wouldn't recommend it.

Hm yes this friend does not let things go so probably not a good idea for her.  Thanks for the advice!
