you have a terrible attitude about work? I am in a funky mood about work right now and need to change it!!
Re: What do you do when...
...specifically music that makes me smile or want to sing along at the top of my lungs...
Jesse's girl (currently on my blog)
Anything Meatloaf or Queen
Time Warp
Pina Coladas
Can't Touch This
etc.
This is exactly where I am with work too.
To answer your question, I usually nest when I have a bad attitude at work. That probably doesn't solve the problem but it distracts me.
Also, I have been trying to get some exercise in every night to release some much needed endorphins.
I am with Karen on the idea of getting a walk in. Maybe take your music with you and do a couple of laps around the building.
Thanks ladies! The funky mood got better (like always) but then I had my review that has been put of for a LONG time and found out my boss needs me to go back to working five days a week or else they'll try to get me one day a week in the current dept and three days a week in HR.
Talk about a tough decision... working five days there means I'll really be working six days because I'll still be teaching on Saturdays (plus trying to work on baby steps to get my own studio going). But walking away from that job to some randomly created job sounds iffy (especially since I'm not too sure about the morality of a couple people I'd be working with if I made that change). The idea of trying to open a studio without the security blanket of a "real job" is so scary though!
I think the funky mood might be a better place to be than this crazy decision making state of mind. ~ha~ Oh well... it's just life, right?
MY BLOG!
This. Remember that it's JUST a job, and that your real goal is to eventually open your own studio. Your job is just a temporary situation to pay the bills until you can get there. Don't worry, I'm sure it won't be long until you're doing what you really love!
All of this.... I am in a funk every morning when I get to work. I am so over my job and want to move on to bigger and better things. BUT if I had no money, I would be miserable. I work on a college campus and we have an art center (museum like) and my coworker and I walk over there all the time....it's quiet......or I go read a gossip magazine outside on the bench, take a "field trip" to starbucks or the grocery store just to grab a snack. Sounds crazy but little trips help me. And then I wake up and do it all over again....
All of these things...and especially what Jkip said. I wanted to jab my eyeballs out every day in my last position, but I kept reminding myself I had a secure job with a great pay and awesome benefits and there are thousands of Americans who would kill for that. It made a huge difference when I decided what I wanted to do with my future, too. Having a goal (like your own studio) is a huge incentive to get through the day!
Glad things are looking up.

This. I would be thrilled to have a job right now... though as my previous posts have suggested, I won't take just any job.
