Hey!! I have good news!! We FINALLY received our wedding video!! I'm so excited that it's finally here. Any updates on yours?

  • Hey!!!  He finally called and left a message (after I friend requested him on FB).  He basically said that he has been burdened financially, having to pay for his rental home and his mortgage at the same time since his insurance company stopped paying.  He needs to hire an editing company to catch him up, but he doesn't have the money.  I never called him back because I don't know what to say.  He says that he needs to get some new bookings so that he can use the deposits towards the editing issue, but I think he'd be digging himself into a deeper whole.  We hired him because he was cheaper and we just wanted something basic, nothing fancy, and he said that his prices are reasonable because he does his own editing and puts his heart into his work. 

    I'm pissed that it's been 7 months and I have no idea when we will get our wedding video.  I don't want to get angry with him because he basically has all the power.  Half the balance was the deposit, and the balance was due to him on the day of the wedding.  He already has all the money and we have nothing.  I really want to warn some of the knotties that have booked him for their weddings, but I don't want to upset any of them or cause any additional stress.  Honestly, I don't know what to do at this point.  I don't think there's anything I can do.

    Anyway, I'm so happy that you guys finally got yours.  I can't wait to see your highlights video.  The pics on your coordinators blog were too much of a tease.  I want to see more :)

    Wow, Elaine, I am so sorry to hear that you are having issues with the videographer :-(. I would call him back and ask where do you go from now? Are you just suppose to wait until forever? I thought he edits the video himself?! I would say you understand his situation but hopefully he understands your situation too and that you already paid him the full amount!! He has to honor his obligation to you. I would still stay in close contact with him. The least thing you can do is bug him!! GL!

    My thoughts exactly.  You can't just not ever receive your video.  You need to figure out where you go from here or if you can a refund or something for your troubles.  That's not fair to you.  GL and let us know how things turn out!

  • OMG, Elaine!! His response to you just isn't going to cut it. Obviously, we understand that everyone has setbacks but he can't not edit your video after you paid him in full. I feel bad about his personal situation, but he needs to figure out how to fulfill his business obligations. I totally agree with what the others said. This vendor needs to give you some sort of timeline that is acceptable to you. And maybe you need to give him some sort of deadline too. So frustrating! Please keep us updated!
