Some of you might have seen my FB status, but Steve is having some problems.
Basically, yesterday he had some stomach pains and they got worse and worse (and way worse) and more localized right around his right side. He'd been nauseous and throwing up all day. I thought appendicitis, so we called the advice nurse and she basically told him he'd won a one way ticket to the ER! So, I left work and took him to the ER. They took him back like right away and got him hooked up to some fluids and gave him some pain meds. He was still in a lot of pain, which the doctor thought was strange that he was still in so much pain. They did a CT and blood work. Both normal. The ER doc called the Kaiser doc for another exam, and both thought the same thing. Appendicitis, but the test results didn't match. So they decided to keep him for observation, I stayed with him for as long as I could but by 1:30 they hadn't put him in a room. By the time I got home he was in a room so that made me feel better. He's been resting (some) and they're running more tests. But basically they have no idea what is wrong with him. It's frustrating and pretty scary. I'm going back up there soon, but I'm hoping by now there's at least something in his blood to point to what is causing all this pain.
If you could send some awesome A08 T&Ps his way that he gets better and they figure out what is wrong with him that'd be awesome guys! Thanks ![]()
Re: Ugh.
I'm so sorry this is happening. I didn't see it in your post, but did the docs ( or anyone) mention it possibly being his gall bladder? My dad recently went into the hospital with similar symptoms only to find out he needed to have his gall bladder removed. I don't remember what test they ran to know it was his gall bladder. Anyway, I sure hope they figure it out soon!
ETA: I posted on facebook. I hope you're doing okay dealing with all of this. T&Ps to you and Steve.
No one has mentioned gall bladder at this point, because the pain is so localized over his appendix and all the pain response symptoms (and his other symptoms) point to that, but the tests do not. They're baffled I think. He's getting a CT right now to see if there is any changes on that since last night. Hopefully it'll just show something wrong instead of nothing this time. After that they said they're going to try and let him eat something to see how he tolerates that and then maybe more tests later.
I'm hanging in there. It's stressful because they don't know anything, but at least they are trying and they're trying to keep him comfortable with pain meds.
I'll keep y'all updated...thanks again for the T&Ps I definitely feel the love.
