Do either one of you know the scary "White Lady" story that every single one of my Filipino relatives seems to know?  I remember as a kid it used to spook me out pretty good.

Oh yea I remember that story.... I used to be the one to tell scary stories to my little cousins during sleep overs since I was the oldest and the only one that grew up in Philippines. There is one particular creature that comes to my mind that I found myself a bit afraid when I got pregnant. I am not sure of the name but supposedly its capable to sticking its tongue through a pregnant belly's navel and suck out the baby....its just folk lore...but I sometimes wonder where the ideas for the stories really came from.

I remember hearing about the white lady, but don't remember the details of the story.  Maybe I'll ask my mom.

The filipino scary/ghost stories are always the spookiest.  For some reason, we all seem to have that relative that can verify that it's true because they've seen it with their own eyes.

By the way, are we talking about the aswang?

LOL!  Aswang!  I remember using the word to mean monster or scary creature, but didn't know it came with a full-on story.

I totally agree with you Marivic - there always seemed to be a relative that can confirm these things.  Hhmmmm!!!
