I bought a suit-type thing!
I sized down the jacket from what is pictured here, and I think I own a cream-colored short sleeve sweater that would work for underneath. Now I just need shoes!
How should I wear my hair? Would a french twist be too "undone?" My version spills out the top everywhere.

Re: Interview attire update
Thanks, keb. Tricky part with me and shoes - I can't wear heels. I'm inept at wearing them. So I need to find a low or wedge pump.
My hair is like disgustingly long and split end-y right now, so it's way better if up!

Nice! I like the suit.
Don't be afraid to wear a splash of color as a shirt, underneath the jacket.
Don't wear sandals, or peeptoe. Simple black pump/flat will do - whatever you feel more comfortable in.
Also - minimal accessories.
I like your hair down - it looks purty
ETA - I also want to add - make sure you study the company. Know who the VIP's are. Know what the position you are interviewing is for. Ask Questions. Ask why this postion is open - was there a person there prior to the interview, or is it a new position.
You can't go wrong with a classic black suit! Love it!
For hair, I agree with keb, if the french twist has enough hanging down so that you might fidget with it if you are nervous, I would try to do a more secure style.
But then again, I usually tend to just wear my hair down for interviews. I try to keep it simple and feminine looking. For some reason I always feel a little manly in a pants suit, so I feel like I have to offset that with simple, but pretty accessories and hairstyle.
Re: hair -- it's supposed to be hot on my interview day, and I'm already panicking at the thought of being trapped in a jacket and pants. PANTS, you guys! I don't wear pants! So I don't want hair clinging to my neck. Maybe I'll try to find a more polished updo and secure with bobby pins.
thanks, philly.
Do you think (if I can't find new shoes) that I could get away with black ballet flats? Or is that a total interview faux pas?
Lucy Elizabeth 10.27.12
Ahh, I didn't even consider the hotness factor (I've only ever interviewed in the winter time). I'd definitely wear my hair up too, versus being sticky/sweaty.
IMO, black ballet flats would be fine.
I like the suit... it will work perfectly. For the hair, I say put it up and keep it off your face. If your version is super messy, try to refine it a little, but it doesnt have to look super formal, just polished. For shoes, a black ballet flat, as long as its dressy enough will be fine, so long as your pants are hemmed correctly for the shoe, it will look sloppy if your walking on them.
Good luck!!

Like the outfit mamie!!! Polished hair style & ballet flats will work.
Also at the end ask what the next step is in the interview process.
Good luck!!!
Flats will only work depending on the length of the pants. You need to make sure they don't touch the ground. Can you try a shoe like this?

I don't want to leave the house tonight, so I think it may be my black (closed-toe) patent flats. Eeep. Hope it all works!
