question... polination

Have you ever polinated your plants?

I have not seen too many bees/bugs around lately, and someone mentioned using a q-tip and polinating my tomatoe plants myself...

Does this work? Have any of you ever gone about doing it that way? if not q-tips, what did you use?

tia

What about other insects? Flys and beetles are also pollinators. However, you can pollinate manually by doing things such as you describe. In parts of China, fruit trees are pollinated by hand using small paintbrushes. A single orchard requires hundreds of workers to climb ladders and spend countless hours.
