Local Hiking Spots?

Hi Ladies

Looking for some local hiking spots that are easy to get to and relatively amateur. I'm not an expert hiker, I just love the workout! Any recs?

Re: Local Hiking Spots?

  • I live in Central MA, so most are in that area but not a bad drive from the Boston area:

    Mt. Wachusett (Princeton)

Mt. Wataic (Ashburnham) pretty quick hike to the top, but with nice views.  not as crowded.

    Northfield Mountain - Northfield, MA

Mt. Monadnock (great beginner hike with rewarding views)

Flat:  Leominster State Forest (I start in Princeton)

    Otter River State Forest (Baldwinville)

Barre Falls Dam (Hubbardston/Barre) also has frisbee golf

    Willard Brook State Forest (Ashby)

  • I recently discovered the Breakheart Reservation in Saugus.  Not a mountain, but there are lots of nice trails through the woods.  I like it because it's not too far away but still feels remote when you're in there.
  • Ditto Breakheart.  My sister and her boyfriend hike there all the time and our high school x-country team used to run races there.  Blue Hills Reservation in Milton is also really popular, but I've never been.
I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball
