can you name my plants? PIPS!

I am a sucker for clearance plants at the end of the season and shovels full of things from friends and family :)  Now a bunch of stuff has come up and I haven't a clue what it is.  TIA!

  • The second one is definitely a columbine.  When the flowers go to seed they are really easy to reseed I had two plants last year and this year I have about 10.

The third one looks like a lemon balm (maybe?)

Are you sure they're not herbs? Crush some leaves and smell them.

The second one looks like flat leaf parsley. It just doesn't look like Columbine to me at all. The first one kind of looks like sage, and the third looks like a weed, but it could also be Snakeroot, mint, or basil. I can't tell without doing some research, and I'm scarce on time right now. There are just so many varieties of herbs, and they can all look very different in spite of being the same herb. It's best to crush and sniff.

  • 1-sage

    2-cilantro

3-looks like basil but hard to tell from the pic

Try smelling them and see if they smell like those 3.

  • Number 1 could be a form of daisy.  Two and 3 look like herbs to me.
  • none are herbs.  Or if they are they are the most boring smelling herbs ever :)  None have any notable smell.  I had thought the one was sage too.

Thanks for the suggestions :)  I guess I will wait until they get a little bigger or flower and maybe try again.

That is my fear that I am nurturing weeds :)

  • I think 1 is some type of daisy. 2 looks like columbine to me too.

  • #3 could be bee balm (it has another name too) I have it and it grows about 3 feet tall with jester hat like flowers (ours are red) they attrach humming birds and butterflies
  • could the third one be hellebore rose?  it wont flower to late winter/early spring.  we just planted some this spring
  • Are the leaves slightly fuzzy on the first one?
  • #1 not fuzzy...Bee balm, that is ringing a bell.  There are little buds that have popped up this last few days and it looks like it will flower pink or red.
  • 1-looks like a speedwell

    2-I would say columbine, too

3-Bee balm or wild bergamot? Is the stem square? (in the mint family) Bee balm or wild bergamot has a strong smell, though. You can crush the leaves and get almost a citrusy/minty kinda smell
