    Funny you should ask, I just got out of a meeting about updating our progress toward our 2010 annual goals. So we get to go through the fun twice a year- great.

  • We have to set goals at the beginning of the year. At the end of the school year we have to show proof of how we attempted to meet our goals/met our goals and discuss it with one of our principals.

  • We do annual reviews too - which I always hate, because you have to walk on water to get an "above average", and pretty much murder someone to get a "below average".  Everyone pretty much always gets their 2.5-3% "Middle of the Road" raise.

    I find it interesting, because lots of respected publications (Harvard Business Review, Wall Street Journal, New York Times) have recently run articles talking about how the annual performance review is a joke, and completely ineffective in terms of either motivating employees or encouraging better performance.
