ok Doggie Lovers/Animal Lovers which ever, please come in
So today is my new doggie's birthday. We named her adi and she is 1(in human yrs of course) today. I wanted to know how cheesy this is and if I should even bother doing it. I want to get her some sort of doggie treat, like cupcake or soemthing similar for today. There is a place here that does doggie birthday cakes with the frosting and everything but I don't really want anything too big since it's only for her (it's not like I'm going to have a doggie party). I used to do this with my last dog before she passed away, I just kinda feel weird because it's not her anymore. What do you think? would you bother to give them something special on their birthday or not? I just think it would be fun to do since she is part of the family now. I was even thinking of getting little birthday hats for the other animals we have (ie: Iguana) but that's not a go ahead.lol.

I bake a doggie cake, put the year candle on the cake, hats on the dogs & Fred (cat) and take lots and lots of pictures!
Last year we threw a big party for Rudy's 1st birthday. Really it was just our summer bbq, but we figured we might as well do it on his birthday. He got Frosty Paws (doggie ice cream) with sprinkles (grape nuts) and some beer!
This year I used his birthday as part of the reasoning for getting the beach house in July. But on his actually birthday this year, we are taking him to Flying Saucer's patio for dinner and a few licks of a beer!
Ok, I'm glad to hear this. I say something like this to my family and they look at me with a head tilt.
LoL at the party hats, the only one's big enough for the hats is Iguana and adi. The rest are too small for party hats, but I will still gather them around the table. The funny thing is that one of our birds whistles happy birthday quite well, so that would be fun to record. lol
i thought about doing it myself and i have been looking online and I see a couple of good recepies to try, I just don't know if I want to bake. I would though have to get something for all to enjoy, I'm like the mad animal woman with all these animals in my house. I am deffinitely going to take a picture of it all.lol. Thanks girls!
we do the frosty paws ice cream....i have pics of sammie on his birthday eating his (we still give everyone one) but i don't know how to upload pics on here.
i definitely want to see pics, whatever you do!!!
I always did something special for Marley. I would get him a plain hamburger from McD's some Frosty Paws icecream. We always sang him happy birthday and got him special goodies. His last birthday in April we made a big deal over him.
Bailey or 1 year old pup also got special goodies for her bday. THey are part of your family so I think it's important to celebrate them!
