Moth Orchid Question

I received a moth orchid for my birthday in Feb.  It said it would flower from Dec.-June.  The last flower fell off last week and now I'm kind of wondering if I should do something else with it while it is not flowering?  I'm assuming I have had it in a good spot since I kept it alive and flowering from Feb-June.  It faces a South window with indirect sun.

It's really unattractive with no flower so can put it elsewhere until it is time to flower again?

Anything else I should know about orchids?  This is my first one and I really love it.

Re: Moth Orchid Question

  • Just had the same thing happen to me.  I feel bad because the orchid was a Valentine's Day gift from the hubby.  Now, it definitely looks pretty dead.  I hope someone can help us out! :)
  • Keep it near the light, water it 1/2 cup to 1 cup of water per week (total), and wait.

It's extremely rewarding when it flowers again.  Ours just flowered for the 3rd time and we've had it since 2007.  It had more blooms this time than ever before (8 or 9) and they were gorgeous.  It will be more likely to bloom if it's near a warm window.  During the winter if your windows are drafty you might want to move it to a warmer window.
