moving to the Brookfield area!
Hello! My husband is accepted an new position to this area from Kansas City, and we are currently looking for a place to rent. We would love some advice about good neighborhoods, etc...We don't have any kids, and are looking for an area with a lot to offer a young couple. Plus, I have the lovely task of job searching...I am currently the office manager for a physical therapy clinic, but am ready for a change. Any leads or pointers would be greatly appreciated!!!
Re: moving to the Brookfield area!
Hi, I'm sure you've noticed that this board is really slow. For a young couple with no kids, I'd recommend renting on the east side of Milwaukee (the east side of downtown, near the lake) or near Cathedral Square in downtown proper and having your husband commute to Brookfield. It's not that far and lots of people do it. Or, for slightly less action but a great location I really love Wauwatosa. It's 15 minutes from downtown but also only about 15 minutes to Brookfield area--less depending on where exactly he needs to go. Wauwatosa is also close to the baseball stadium, and it has a cute little downtown with some restaurants and shops. I used to live in an apartment in Milwaukee right on the eastern edge of Tosa and I loved my location, even though all my friends lived on the more hip & cool East Side.
Welcome! It's a nice area.
I'm also from Kansas City (well I actually grew up in Independence but whatever!). DH is from New Berlin so after years of us moving away, we're back in New Berlin. We're right across the road from Brookfield limits. We LOVE the area and it's close to everything!
I would also suggest 3rd ward for a place to live. It's a fun area for a young couple without kids and has lots to offer in terms of rentals.
Welcome to the area!
Welcome to the Greater Milwaukee area!
Brookfield is a great place to live - I've worked there for the past 6 years, although for the past year I've been just over the line into Pewaukee. My hubby works downtown, and we live in Franklin. If you're looking for something that is close to everything, a little less pricey and a nice area to live in, consider Franklin or some of the other suburbs on the south side of Milwaukee. We own a condo down here, and find it a short, convenient drive to everything in the Milwaukee area. Happy house shopping!
