Childcare questions

Before we TTC we are trying to make sure we can afford daycare. We would like our child to be at someones home (not a center)

So if you wouldn't mind sharing

1) How much does your childcare cost (either an hour/day/month...whatever yours is)

2) How many kids does your sitter watch?

3) How did you find your sitter?

Thanks for your help ladies! I have tried looking around and haven't found much so I figured you ladies would be the most helpful!

Re: Childcare questions

  • We are at an in-home daycare but they do run a pretty large daycare. There are 12-14 kids with 2-3 people supervising. At this time there are only a few babies, most are toddlers or preschoolers. We pay $750 a month and found the daycare online. Through work we also have a dependent care FSA. You can put up to $5000 in that and it automatically deducts an amount pre-tax from your paycheck. Then you can get reimbursed for daycare costs as it accrues in your account.
  • We pay $520.00 a month ($600.00 at our previous in home daycare) and where we are at now, it's a daycare/preschool. Because of the preschool, she can have 8-10 kids, with 2 assistants. DD spends 1/2 her day in the "Daycare" and the other half in the "preschool". She has her masters in teaching and is state certified. We also found her online. Make sure to ask questions, and don't be afraid. Make them show you their state certification, where the kids sleep, experience, etc. In home can be spendy, but so worth it! FSA, like Esther said, is also a great way to go if your employer offers it. GL :)
