I want to slap the shiit out of BIL's GF. She's always a total brat. Tonight she tried ruining DH's family birthday dinner... how do people deal with this ***? MIL is also up her butt, so it's not like anyone will put her in her place....

She just tries to stir the pot... mostly with me. She makes everything seem so competitive, it's ridiculous. But pretty much every time I said anything she would contradict me... even if they were things I obviously know more about (like science). It's just one of those relationships that every time I see her, it gets worse and worse, and the feelings get stronger and stronger, because she makes me miserable at these family things.
I'm trying my best to kill her with kindness... because it makes her noticeably uncomfortable... but I feel like one of these times I'm just going to snap.
Some weekend dark humor for you...
I once read a poem about two girls who grew up knowing one another and one was always one-upping the other. If once ran a race and got a personal best time, the other would break the school record. If one got into a good school, the other got a full ride to Harvard. If one had a baby boy, the other had twin boys. etc. etc. etc. The poem ends when the one who was always being one-upped gets a cold. The one-upper got pneumonia and died.
So when you say she's trying to one up you... that's what came to mind. Dark, yes, but I hope it brings a smile!
I heart you Karen!
haha thanks!
