Ideas for local dinner tonight?

I invited my parents over for dinner tonight for Father's Day.  Here's what I have planned so far for dinner

Burgers on the grill- local, pastured meat

Buns-  don't know where to get these locally made with local flour?? :(

Salad Greens w/ Homeade Dressing- from our CSA

Home made Strawberry Ice cream  w/ local milk and strawberries

I am going to the farmers market this morning to see what's there.  Any other ideas of what I could serve?  (As a side note, I am trying to get my parents to see the light on this-- my mom was at the grocery store yesterday buying strawberries from CALI for a church function when they are in season here and soooo delicious compared to those pseudo-strawberries shipped from Cali!)

Re: Ideas for local dinner tonight?

  • metropolitan? i think all of their ingredients are local. or, the farm fresh food stand in the reading terminal as locally made bread products.

if you are doing burgers, it may be fun to do a few different kinds of local meat and serve sliders, especially if you are trying to show your parents what is available to them locally.

strawberry ice cream sounds awesome, and though it may be too much strawberry, you could always add strawberries to a salad. or make strawberry and blueberry smoothies with local yogurt. or make fresh strawberry sauce for the ice cream.

for a side dish- local veggies grilled and drizzled with a simple olive oil or balsamic.
