Another momma question!

I'm trying to figure out our gameplan with bassinets right now. I read so many different things about how people put their baby directly into a crib, others have problems transitioning to the crib etc. etc. Anyway, we do plan to use a bassinet but here's the thing - the pack n play we have on our registry also has a newborn napper and in reading reviews about it, it seems that many people use the newborn napper in place of a bassinet. I figure if it functions the same way and it's safe, why not? Spending another $100 on a bassinet that will be outgrown in a few months seems silly to me if the pack n play napper will function the same way. I guess my question is, is there any reason why you wouldn't use the newborn napper and would prefer a bassinet?

Re: Another momma question!

  • Nope! No reason. We used the insert for the pack n play w/ luke..didn't bother w/ Vivi..lol. You can get a little sleep positioner to put in there or also use a baby bed nest for your bed or the pnp and evetually the crib . If can go along to help them get used to the new places.
  • ditto Tiff.  Skip the bassinet and just use the pack and play!  we're actually going to just put Jameson right in the crib
  • We used the PNP but I think for #2 we will put them right in the crib. We had a hard time transitioning her into the crib.

There is also a PNP that I saw in Target recently that has an incline feature. Now that would have been awesome with Emmy and her digestive/gas issues.

  • We used both.  Actually, for the first month or two Corinne slept in a a sleep nest in our bed with us because she wouldn't sleep in her bassinet.  She eventually took to the bassinet and then when she outgrew it we put her in the pack n play.  She, honestly, didn't sleep in her crib til she was about 8 or 9 months old.  Our old house isn't in the greatest neighborhood and there was a car driving by one night that shot some random gunshots in the air.  Corinne's bedroom was in the front of the house so I was not going to take the chance of putting her there.  When we moved to our new home, I was just not ready to put her in her bedroom on the opposite side of the house because I was a weenie.  I eventually got over it about a month later and she's been there ever since. I used her crib for her naps, so she was used to it.  I did slowly make the transition though, if she woke up throughout the night, I brought her to our room.
