Since I consider myself an expert
on food, as a pregnant lady...I must confess...
I just had my first helping of JoyLoveRings' apple crisp (I made it with granny smiths last night but didn't have time to eat any)....and it was, quite simply, approaching orgasmic. You must try it. She posted the recipe a week or two ago, so it is prob. on page 2-5 somewhere.
Re: Since I consider myself an expert
put it in a good storage bin and put it in the plastic bag tie it up very good and leave it on your front steps. I will swing by on my way home and get it
DEAL????
Filling
5 to 6 cortland or granny smith apples, peeled, cored and cut up into chunks 1/2 cup sugar, 2 tsps. lemon juice, 1 tsp. vanilla, 1 and 1/2 tsp. cinnamon, 1/2 tsp. nutmeg, 1/4 tsp salt.
Mix ingredients in the baking dish, oval 2 quart Corningware dishes are perfect or you can use an 8 in.
Topping
1 stick unsalted butter, 1 cup firmly packed light brown sugar, 1/4 tsp salt, 1 cup flour, 1/3 cup oats
Melt the butter in a saucepan and remove from heat, add sugar, salt, flour and oats and mix until just incorporated. It should look like cookie dough. crumble over filling and bake at 350 for 50-60 mins until bubbly.
Notes: I microwaved the butter because I?m lazy, and I also baked it for 40-45 minutes before removing it because it was bubbly, so check your ovens!
