Anniversaries...

DH and I follow the traditional anniversary gifts each year...We usually keep the gifts small. But I am having the hardest time with year 4....

1st year- Paper

DH got a photo calendar I made, I got the instruction booklet to my ipod nano (along with the nano)

2nd- Cotton

DH got Boardshorts/Flip flops, I got baby clothes (his way of saying lets start trying)

3rd- Leather

DH got new belts, I got baby books with a leather bookmark

4th- Fruit/Flowers....SERIOUSLY?! WTF?

Ok ladies...any out of the box ideas for Fruit/Flowers?

  • Ahahahahaha Jenn, you are hilar!  Pasties?!  Really?!  Bahahahahaha!

I immediately thought of Edible Arrangements too...  Is he a fan of marmalade?  Or preservatives?  Homemade jam is probably the best gift in the world.  You could pack a brunch picnic, I saw Barefoot Contessa do this yesterday am on the FN.

Or...if you'd like to approach things from the flower side...how about covering your bed with rose petals?  And ya know.... Devil

He is not a fan of the edible arrangements...the fact that he is the most amazing cook and a food snob really throws a wrench into the whole food ideas...Homemade jam is a cool idea though! I might do that...but what else? hmm....damn fruit/flowers...seriously, what guy wants flowers?

  • Check out this website!! This has some ideas.. You could possibly skip traditional and go with modern? haha... I don't know really!

  • I've never heard of the 4th being fruits/flowers.  My date book has the 4th listed as linen, silk as the traditional & electrical appliances for the modern.  I think I'd go w/those.  They'd be much easier to buy for your DH.  But I like some of the ideas the other ladies posted for the fruits/flowers thing too.

  • Get some edible flowers (the purple ones is what I have in my brain, no idea what they're called). Slice up some light colored melon really thin. Cover flowers in sugar, flatten them, and put them between two pieces of melon, so you can still see the flower. Then, you could make a bouquet out of that, or serve it on top of pancakes, or...whatever. :)
