Hi from another board! My bday is next week, and I don't want to just have a run of the mill everybody come over party. Got any ideas for a party theme? I'll be 29...
Re: Help for a D&R girl!
I'd play up the "last year before the dirty thirties" aspect -- maybe even go way over the top and throw yourself a kid-themed party. Disney princesses or Strawberry Shortcake or something. Get a pinata, make those little plastic treat bags for everyone with toy prizes, serve "kid food" (corn dogs or pizza and soda). Everyone likes an excuse every once in a while to act like a kid again.
If you want to go the opposite route and do fancy/glam (but still an "end of the 20s" idea), throw a 20's themed party. Serve fancy cocktails and appetizers, wear a cute dress with peeptoe heels and pearls, play jazz music all night.
I like the 20s theme. Celebrating your last year of your 20s.
I also like thinking of my 29th birthday as my first 29th birthday ; )
I don't really know how to make a theme out of that.
How about a western theme? (I was inspired by your photo)
There's also:
casino night
tapas & sangria
sushi & sake
fajitas & margaritas (and a pinata!)
wine & cheese
cocktail party
80's party
karaoke
drinks & dessert
brunch
HTH!
