Clematis ?

I have a very tall purple clematis plant on the side of my house. It bloomed beautifully, but now they have all fallen off and all that's left is some swirly hairy looking things. If those are pinched off, will it bloom again? I see clematis plants around town that still have flowers..except mine. :(

Re: Clematis ?

  • No, clematis don't generally rebloom.  They do their show & then they are done until next year.  There are, however, clematis that bloom at different times (earlier, later, etc.).  That could be what you're seeing.
  • Mine bloom about twice a spring/summer. The do their initial bloom, and then later on (about mid July) they bloom again. Sometimes I get another batch of flowers out of the plant in the fall. I have no idea what type I have, other than it has solid white huge flowers.
  • My plant is new this year.  I bought it as a starter plant in the early spring and it has 2 blooms.  Now it's shot up and I have a bunch of blooms/buds.  Not sure if it will bloom again after this or not.  We shall see.
