Poll(and mini vent) - Scented Lotions/Body Wash

My step daughter has suddenly become obsessed with Bath and Body Works lotions and sprays.  OBSESSED!  Well she uses this horrible smelling floral scent.  It gives me a freakin headache!!  It's the only thing I can smell when I walk in the house from being outside, I can't stand it.

If you were to buy a scented lotion, what 'flavor' do you like?  There are so many...sweet fruits and mild fruits, vanilla, coconut, almond, of course florals...mmmmmm smell good!

Re: Poll(and mini vent) - Scented Lotions/Body Wash

  • I'm VERY particular about that stuff.  Bath & Body Works has one that I love though - I think it's Coconut Lime Verbena.  Yummy.  Most floral ones (aside from last year's Victoria's Secret Heavenly Bloom) make me want to gag.

I don't like floral scents at all and I'm allergic to a lot of scented sprays or perfumes. But I *love* vanilla or vanilla bean. It's my favorite scent for candles and anything else scented.

  • Floral scents are not my thing and usually that kind of stuff doesn't bother me, but I find B&BW to be overboard at times.  I love their aroma therapy scents, anything with coconut or vanilla.  I do find their candles to smell yummy.  I just picked one up on sale that was a Caribbean Margarita or something like that and it smells delish!

  • i'm not a big fan of florals.  I like coconut and other tropical scents but we don't wear purfume/cologne so everything in our house is pretty mild.

DH's cousin is living with us right now and she wears perfume - something kind of floral-y so I know where you are coming from - it seems like our entire house (and Jack) smells like it.  It's not horrible, but it's a little overwhelming.

Amy nailed it!  That one IS yummy.  Our hotel in Cabo had B&BW toiletries in the Coconut Lime Verbena, mmm, heaven.  I really like coconut and I love my Michael Kors Hawaii perfume that is now disco'd :(

I'm just the opposite...vanilla is the one scent I absolutely can't stand!  Don't get me wrong....I LOVE vanilla flavored things, and the smell of actual vanilla.  But lotions and air fresheners that are fake-vanilla scented make me nauseated.  And this is a very popular scent, so my students are always giving me candles and lotions that are vanilla.  Oh, well, it's the thought that counts, right?  :)

Most Bath and Body Works stuff is too strong/fake for me, but I do like their Tuberose scent.  I use that shower gel every day.  For lotion I usually use cocoa butter lotion or Jergens cherry/almond lotion....yummy!

  • I really like the coconut scent and also the warm vanilla sugar scent. Coconut reminds me of an awesome beach vacation and the vanilla scent is very warm and cozy.

  • I like very crisp scents - herbs, fresh cut grass, citrus, etc. Not such a big fan of floral (unless they're white flowers like gardenias), and I haaaaaate vanilla (too sweet!) and coconut (99.9999% of the time it's such an overpowering scent).

I love you. Stick out tongue

I'm the exact same way, and most people don't get it because vanilla is such a popular scent. But even though I love the way ACTUAL vanilla smells (and I also love the flavor), that fake vanilla scent is just icky and nauseating.

  • I use Korres' Guava Body Butter. Love the fruity!
  • DH teaches grade 8 and a lot of his female students wear watermelon-y or berry-type sprays.  He says it gives him a headache, too!  Is your SD in grade 8?  Stick out tongue

I tend to be an unscented kind of gal, but if the fragrance it light, I like lavender, vanilla, coconut, ginger, and citrus scents.  There are a few floral scents I like but can't think of any off the top of my head...

Umm, YES! She just 'graduated' 8th grade.

My older step daughter wears perfume (Paris Hilton, blagh) - which is almost just as bad, but I can't usually smell it through the floral atrocity.  Both of them, freshly sprayed, in the confined space of the car, pure TORTURE!

This was SO me in middle school!  My town didn't have a B&BW but I snatched up drugstore perfumes like they were going out of style.  Unforgettable, Navy, Electric Youth, Colors by Bennetton... you name it, I doused myself it it.  Trust me, your girls will be horrified when they get older and think back on this! Stick out tongue

I still buy a lot of variety in scented lotions, but I don't wear them every day.  My favorites are VS Vanilla Lace, and B&BW Cherry Blossom.  I don't usually go for florals but I love Cherry Blossom because it smells really good on me.

I prefer clean/laundry type scents for candles, but never for lotion. I want my home to smell like laundry, not my skin.

    "Floral atrocity"....now that's freakin' hilarious!

You do know we're sharing a hotel room starting tomorrow, right?  And I wear the perfume 'Daisy'.....I'll be sure to keep it light.  Big Smile

Can't you just put it on OUTSIDE and then STAY outside??  If it bothers me, I will get you back with mango, coconut, cocoa butter, brazil nut, vanilla - all mixed together and then I will rub the leftover on my hands all over your pillow! Stick out tongue

    Love you!

  • I'll just spray the hell out of myself tomorrow and wear a shirt that says "floral atrocity" on it when I see you at the airport tomorrow night.  Devil
  • I am a coconut or vanilla fan myself for lotions.  For sprays, I prefer more tropical scents like jasmine, gardenia or a citrusy, tropical scent that has pineapple notes.
