This sucks!

We just moved into our house a month ago, and now I already have to face a week of being alone in the house.

My DH was told on Friday that he was going on a business trip for work to the States.  He has never had to go on one since he started working, and now he has to go.  I have never really had to stay in a home by myself -  there was always someone there.  I think the worst part will be the silence when trying to fall asleep.  I think I watch too many crime shows :

  • Ugh, I would feel the same way! I hope the week goes quickly. Can you invite a friend for a sleepover? LOL

  • it's kinda spooky... I find it's so much better now that I have a dog. Whenever I am home I always leave the radio or TV on so it's not silent and you can't hear the creeks, hehe
  • I know what you mean about being in a house alone. It sucks. I never used to sleep very well when FI leaves. Now I enjoy the middle of the bed far too much (also have a dog, so that helps)

I use a fan so there is at least some noise in the room. You could try that! Tea seems to help nerves as well.

  • Yes I am sleeping in the middle of the bed too.  I slept ok last night, because I was really tired.  I only have to make it through tonight and tomorrow night, and then I am going to my parent's cottage on the weekend.  I definitely go to bed later when DH isn't here - I guess I figure that the later I go to sleep the sooner morning will come, lol.

  • Oh and I have my cat.  I would feel more secure with a dog because they bark, but at least she's here to keep me company.

  • I love being home alone!! Gives me so much free time to do my girly stuff, like watch chick flicks, craft, read, etc... With DH around all the time, I find my personal hobbies get pushed aside cause he doesn't have any to keep him occupied.

Although we have a dog, she's like 15lbs and scared of her shadow sometimes. She acts all tough, and barks, but she's such a chicken! LOL
