So my cucumbers ...

are climbing like CRAZY! The tomato cage that I put behind my raised bed won't be enough for them. I saw a tendril on one of my plants reaching toward my house! (My beds are located on the side of my house since it's the flattest portion of my yard which slopes.) It's off to Home Depot or Lowe's this weekend to grab a taller trellis.

I guess the hot weather we've been having made the cucumbers just take off. As soon as it warmed up, they started growing like crazy.

Re: So my cucumbers ...

  • I have some volunteer cukes growing from last year and they are just starting to vine... I only planted mine from seed 2 weeks ago but they are doing well.
  • We looked at a trellis but then dad suggested concrete bars. They're cheaper (about $7 each), but don't look as nice.  We have them propped up against our fence for the cukes and zucchini to climb. In another month, we won't see anything but vine so we went the cheaper route.
