S&D2HI - Re: This month's book

Do you have a break down of what chapter we need to read up to each week?  This month is going to be a busy one so I could definitely use a goal to make sure I accomplish.  Smile

Re: S&D2HI - Re: This month's book

  • I was going to ask this same thing - I don't have my copy yet so I couldn't work out a breakdown in the check-in for anyone who wants to use it. Smile
  • So, just out of curiousity (since I didn't really get to read The Book Thief), are we still trying to finish the book within a month timeframe?

If so, let's aim for this:

    Week One: Ch. 1 - 12

    Week Two: Ch. 13 - 27

    Week Three: Ch. 28 - 39

Week Four: Ch. 40 - end

Its roughly 100p a week in a 400p book. Thought we could just aim to split it equally. If you have any other suggestions, let me know!

  • Sounds good to me!  Thanks for the breakdown.
  • sounds good to me too - I was going to start reading today during my breaks at work (good distraction from the Swan Thief, which I am not enjoying) but my Kindle was d-e-a-d.  One downside to an electronic reader!!
  • That breakdown looks good to me! I like it broken into chapters vs page numbers because page numbers change depending on the print edition and whether you have a paperback or hardcover (or Kindle copy). Yes

How far into the book are you? If more than ~50 pages, I'd just give up on it.

I used to power through a book no matter how much I hated it, just because I couldn't imagine not finishing, until one day I was discussing the matter with my big boss at the library where I work and she said, "Lisa, life is way too short to read bad books. How many books do you read in a year? 200? Maybe 300, if you're lucky? And there are thousands, millions out there! Why waste your time reading a book you hate when there are so many others out there that you'll love?" LOL I couldn't argue with that!

She only gives a book 50 pages, but I'll give it 100 if it's a large book, but giving myself the freedom to stop reading has changed my reading life - seriously!
